“Birth takes a woman’s deepest fears about herself and shows her that she is stronger than them.”

If you’re looking for a way to deeply prepare for birth, and change your mindset from a place of fear and doubt, to calm and confident, read on!

I am an independent hypnobirthing teacher in Bristol, and I offer a unique course, to help you prepare body and mind, as parents to be. My course is crafted to be factual and fun, empowering and practical, and covers birth preparation, relaxation and breathing techniques. I run group courses roughly 4 times a year, or individual one to one courses.

So, what is hypnobirthing all about?

Hypno”- relating to the mind, helping you to address and let go of fears, misconceptions, and doubts around birth. We all arrive at pregnancy, looking ahead to the day we give birth, with our own individual story, fears, and thoughts around birth. The name can conjur up ideas of hypnosis and woo-woo, but this is a comprehensive birth education course, which is biology and science based.

My courses are perfect for addressing your own worries, gaps in knowledge and questions about all things labour and birth. Through the power of positive suggestion, we can release anxieties and fears and actually look forward to the day we birth, however we birth. Breathing and relaxation techniques help you to step away from your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and birth from a calm place, where your birthing hormones can flow, and your body can birth unhindered from fear. Hypnobirthing also covers thought processes, birthing language, informed decision making and empowered communication with your birth professionals.

Birthing”- Learn everything you need to know about preparing for, and giving birth. This course will comprehensively cover late pregnancy, the stages of labour, comfort measures, tools to equip you and your partner for a calm birth, active birth positions, newborn moments and creating your birth preferences.

My course is 8 hours for a group course, and 1-2-1 courses are usually 4 or 8 hours long, and can be face to face (Bristol- travel costs may apply) or online. With over 10 years of midwifery practice in all areas, as well as my hypnobirthing, pregnancy yoga and meditation training, I can offer you a wealth of tried and tested birthing knowledge. This carefully written course is not a fluffy and idealistic course, it is a deep dive into birth, the maternity system and it's guidelines and how to feel confident however and wherever you birth.

I am passionate about empowering you and your birth partners to feel in control, excited and prepared for your birth journey. I have supported couples in every birth setting, and am confident in discussing guidelines around VBAC, home birth, Induction etc, if you are wishing to become more informed and empowered in navigating the local policies of your trust. Please feel free to get in touch to find out more about how I can support you to plan for your birth, your way.

Included in my courses are relaxation scripts and audios, written and recorded by myself, affirmations, and the option to keep in touch with any questions in the lead up to birth.

Having recently experienced my own pregnancy and birth journey, I now have even more of a passion for sharing the power of hypnobirthing. I found hypnobirthing incredibly helpful to prepare for all birth settings, incase my planned homebirth didn't happen. Hypnobirthing helped me consider when and if I would choose an induction, my cesarean birth preferences should I need one, and most importantly to feel empowered and calm ahead of birth. In labour I used the breathwork, relaxation and movement I teach, and I think this was a huge part of how much I loved labour and birth.

I can't wait to help you feel prepared, informed and excited for you birth-day!

Please get in touch to hear about any upcoming group courses, run quarterly.

“A positive birth does not have to be unmedicated. it just needs to be from an informed place of positivity and not fear.”
